Mediation & Arbitration Attorneys
Not every lawsuit needs to go to trial. The vast majority of cases are settled outside the courtroom. Having a skilled and knowledgeable alternative dispute resolution team at your disposal makes mediation and arbitration options more viable, and can save you and your clients money.
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) options, including settlement conferences, mediation, and arbitration, can sometimes be a way to shorten the litigation process. These out-of-court options bring the parties together to assist in resolving their differences and settling their cases. Whether you are facing a civil lawsuit for money damages, or a domestic matter involving divorce or child custody, our ADR team at Hampton & Royce, L.C., can help.
Civil Mediation & Settlement Conference Services
Many courts in central and northwestern Kansas make use of out-of-court settlement conferences, civil mediation, and case management to manage their dockets. At Hampton & Royce, L.C., we are privileged to be on several judges' court-appointed mediator lists. We are also happy to take direct referrals from civil attorneys hoping to resolve their tort, contract and family law cases quickly. We have certified mediators on staff, and are proud to count a past president of the Kansas State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section among our ranks. We can provide you and your client with the facilities and experienced mediation services you need to get your case resolved quickly, for a fair amount. We also provide formal settlement conference services for Kansas state courts. Our location in Salina, Kansas, provides a convenient central location for parties from all over the state.
Domestic Mediation & Arbitration Assistance
Divorce and custody cases often involve highly personal, intimate details that parties are not eager to make public. This, along with the highly emotional nature of these cases, makes alternative dispute resolution a much more viable option than testifying in open court. At Hampton & Royce, we have trained and certified domestic mediators on staff. We also have an attorney on staff who serves as a court-appointed arbitrator for family law cases under the Kansas Case Management statute. We offer the facilities, experience, and expertise to allow your clients to come to a resolution on their domestic matters privately, and without the risk of a full trial.
Helping Kansas Avoid Contested Divorce and Custody Cases
At Hampton & Royce, we are also happy to provide domestic mediation services directly to spouses and parents interested in finding a peaceful solution to difficult domestic matters. Kansas law allows the parties to resolve custody disputes directly, without court interference, through uncontested domestic proceedings. To take advantage of this process, the parties must be able to bring the court a fully agreed-upon plan for custody and parenting time of their children. Our mediators can help you iron out the details of this arrangement and make sure it is something the court can accept. In doing so, parties may sometimes be able to avoid the time and expense of formal domestic litigation, and mandatory attorney representation. Our experienced domestic mediation attorneys will help you come to a custody arrangement that is in your child's best interest, and that both parents can live with.
